I Needed to Take a Step Back and Here’s Why

As many things have been bottling up inside, I needed to take a break to get myself back on track.

Hello friends! I welcome you and myself back to another blog post. 💛

If you follow me on Instagram you might have an idea of why I didn’t upload a blog post last week. If you don't, what are you waiting for? Haha! Don't worry, though, I’ll expand on it a bit today.

For several weeks I’ve been feeling overwhelmed and very stressed out due to school, my new job, the blog, social media, and myself, among other things. As a result, my body has been reacting with terrible acne breakouts, lack of sleep and motivation, loss of appetite, isolation, unnecessary spending, negative thoughts, and back spasms, etc. Regardless, I've been pushing through because I was taught that the "show must go on," but I was getting to a point where I feared I may be falling into a depression. For that, I decided to seek help. (I might share more of that journey later on if I feel comfortable enough to do so.)

Anyway, that's why I need to take a step back last week. It wasn't for a quick remedy that suddenly made everything perfect and great. Those seven days allowed me to rest, clear my mind, and break my rigid schedule to think about where I am and where I want to go from here because I miss my energized, quirky, always dancing and singing, positive self. I miss laughing, choreographing, being silly and creative, doing scrapbooking, practicing calligraphy, doing yoga, going places, and being the person I was proud of even when there's always room for improvement. Unfortunately, my mind and energy has been elsewhere. So, that short time allowed me to cut myself some slack, rethink Finding Our Beat, and start the process of learning how to live a happier and more fulfilled life.

That said, even if the world is moving at a pace that is sometimes hard to keep up with, remember to prioritize your wellbeing. Take time off from whatever is consuming you and be kind and patient with yourself. Listen to what your heart, body, and mind needs and find ways to keep them healthy. You only have one of each. 😉

On another note, I want to thank you for being here. Thank you to those you wait for a new blog post each Monday. I’ve received a few messages wondering why I didn’t upload last week and it meant the world to me. Thank you to those who engage with me through social media, the blog, or WhatsApp. That gives me joy and motivation to keep going and to know what you like to read. To the readers who recently subscribed, welcome! I'd love to get to know more of all you guys so you’re welcome to message me either on the contact form, Instagram, e-mail, or (drum roll please đŸ„) the new Facebook page. I think it’ll be a great way to have easier access to the blog posts and other resources, plus interact with each other, so go check it out and join the fam! I'm excited!

I wish you an amazing week, as amazing as YOU are! Until next Monday where I’ll meet you here with a new blog post. đŸ€©
